Dead satellites and space debris is now a serious safety hazard. Scientists are seriously worried about the Kessler Syndrome where debris from unused satellites in low earth orbit gets accelerated to enough and starts to collide with other objects due to density.
A nightmare scenario where within a few days all satellites will be lost and launching newer ones will be impossible.
However, fleets of ‘space drones’ could soon be deployed to breathe new life into dying satellites, says the UK-based company which aims to send up its first drones in 2020. Matthew Stock reports.
Drones are usually thought of as impractical and something for the hobbies, but this is changing fast as more and more companies are concentrating on everyday sue of this tech.
The more technologies like these become mainstream, it will drive down costs and make drones more mainstream.
Last but not the least, many new tech initiatives and products are increasingly targeted towards small businesses, yet more still needs to be done, and drones are one area where a lot can be done.
